About the Artist

A note from the Artist:

Pic_of_Greg1for_Web.jpgA native of Toronto, I moved to Boulder in 1966. From the moment I arrived in Colorado I was mesmerized by the incredible scale, designs and colors of nature, especially the sunrises and sunsets. Until you experience the Rocky Mountain region you don't understand the term "big sky country"; once here you do. I still remember that frigid December morning right after a deep and feathery snowfall when I drove to Chautauqua Park at the foot of the Flatirons and discovered the joy of capturing the magic photographically.

While my photography long ago branched out to include much of the western US (I have extensive collections from and look forward to publishing card collections of the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Zion, Canyon Lands, Death Valley, Capitol Reef, and Rocky Mountain National Park.) whenever I'm in Boulder I return early mornings and evenings to my favorite places to shoot, Sawhill Ponds, Chautauqua Park and the plains east of Boulder.

Sawhill Ponds is a wildlife refuge with 12 mirror-like ponds that I use in capturing magnificent sunsets and sunrises. The ponds are home to many migrating birds, including horned owls, herons and Canadian geese. The Flatirons are like a cathedral viewed from Chautauqua Park. The plains to the east of Boulder provide magnificent views of the Front Range with Longs peaks as a centerpiece.

Photography has taught me a new way to look at the world, to feel its natural rhythms and to appreciate the beauty that surrounds me but seemed invisible before I looked through my viewfinder.

I shoot to remind myself how beautiful the world is and how quickly it is disappearing. I shoot because I am drawn by the beauty outside the walls of the world of man. The winds stir the colors and clouds and I feel blessed to be witness to it.

Thanks for letting me share my images with you.
